{"id":1980,"date":"2023-11-16T17:57:53","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T16:57:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emr-skills4you.eu\/?post_type=scientific-article&#038;p=1980"},"modified":"2023-11-16T17:57:53","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T16:57:53","slug":"differentiated-instruction-in-vocational-and-higher-education-good-practices","status":"publish","type":"scientific-article","link":"https:\/\/emr-skills4you.eu\/en\/scientific-article\/differentiated-instruction-in-vocational-and-higher-education-good-practices\/","title":{"rendered":"Differentiated instruction in vocational  and higher education  &#8211; good practices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Differentiated instruction is a pedagogical-didactical approach that can support teachers to respond adequately to differences among their students.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the Skills4You project, the team from Maastricht University developed, implemented, and evaluated a training focused on differentiated instruction for teachers in secondary and higher vocational education in the Netherlands, Flanders, and Wallonia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The training is based on the results of focus groups interviews with teachers and educational experts from these contexts (see <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/emr-skills4you.eu\/en\/scientific-article\/diffentiated-instruction-in-vocational-education-best-practices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMEE<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/emr-skills4you.eu\/en\/scientific-article\/differentiated-instruction-in-vocational-education-best-practices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ORD<\/a><\/span> 2022).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, we evaluated this training through evaluation forms and group interviews with teachers from these contexts (see <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/emr-skills4you.eu\/en\/scientific-article\/training-teachers-on-the-importance-of-valuing-and-handling-student-diversity-a-design-based-research-perspective\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMEE and ORD<\/a><\/span> 2023).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What we have learned from our research, as well as from the training sessions, is that teachers have a need for additional (visual) support. Consequently, in collaboration with graphic designer <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/iris-thijssen-63a487165\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iris Thijsen<\/a><\/span>, we developed an infographic that visually summarizes the best practice learned from the research in combination with the five differentiation principles outlined by Keuning et al.
